Plain-English answers on what this site collects, why, and the choices you have.

The short version

This is a one-person travel blog. I collect as little data as I can get away with: the site is read by real people, not data brokers. Everything below explains the few things that do happen when you visit darrenjonathon.com.

What I collect

Newsletter: if you sign up, I store your email address so I can send you blog updates. You can unsubscribe any time using the link in every email, or by emailing hello@darrenjonathon.com.

Shop orders: when you buy a guide, the payment is processed by Stripe. I see your order details (name, email, purchase) so I can deliver the product and support you. I never see or store your full card details.

Ordinary browsing: like most websites, basic technical information (such as your browser type and pages visited) may be logged for security and to keep the site running.

Cookies and how you control them

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses cookies mainly to remember your preferences and to support the advertising described below. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; the site will still work.

Advertising

This site shows ads served by Mediavine (Journey) and its advertising partners, which may include Google and other third-party vendors. These companies may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.

Affiliate links

Some links in my guides are affiliate links (for example to booking or eSIM providers). If you click through and buy something, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what I recommend; my guides stay honest either way.

Your choices

Wherever you live, you can ask me what (if anything) I hold about you, ask me to delete it, or opt out of communications. Email hello@darrenjonathon.com and I'll sort it out. If you're in Europe or the UK, this covers your GDPR rights; if you're in Australia, it covers your rights under the Australian Privacy Principles.

Changes to this policy

If the site changes in a way that matters for your privacy, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
